Use of this service is permitted provided that the following conditions are met:

The conditions required by Geographical Survey Institute (GSI) of Japan

Usually, use or copy of maps which this service privides needs the approval by Director General of GSI; except for following:

• Softwares which only set URL and parameters. In this case, they must show following terms to their users cleary.
  • Approval Number of this service ("GYOU-SHI No.449 2008")
  • The name of this service ("Fundamental Geospatial Data 25000 Web Map Service" or "FGD25000WMS")
• Limited use or copy authorized by GSI (ex. personal use ,internal use)

Q & A

I pdoduced the webbase application with OpenLayers. It includes the layer using this service. If I open this application, is approve by GSI needed ?

The OpenLayers appllications with usual hands set the URL to this service and parameters. Therefor approve by GSI is not needed, but following terms are needed.

• Application of Terms of use / Finds.jp
• Showing clearly "This map uses Foundational Geographical Information 25000 Web Map Service" or equal expressions in the application

How about Google Maps API ?

You can use Google Maps API of course. Any application is applied if the end users get images from this service directly. If the end users get images immediately, any applications (including OpenLayers applications and Google Maps applications) are not.

I plan to produce the server which include images from this service and distrite them. Is approve by GSI needed ?

In this case, the end users get images from your server, not this service. Therefore, The approve by GSI is needed.

I shall upload the images got from this service to my blog, and I shall publish them in publications. Is approve by GSI needed ?

Yes, both of them need approve by GSI. But approve by GSI may be not needed in limited case. For more information, please ask GSI.

Notice on accuracy

• This service uses the map whose accuracy level equals ones of 1:25000 maps. Therefore, the map has uncertainty of some metors.
• Prefectural areas (if requested with the scale between 1:1,500,000 and 1:20,000,000) and nationwide area (if requested with the scale smaller than 1:20,000,000) are tolerant.
